Volunteer Clearances
The Chapel is fully committed to the health and safety of the children and youth entrusted to our care. Therefore, we REQUIRE BACKGROUND CHECKS on all of our volunteers 18 years and older. Volunteers must complete the PA Criminal Background Check, the Child Abuse Registry, and Residency Affirmation/FBI Fingerprint Check (if not a PA resident for 10 years) to comply with state regulations for volunteers.
If you have any questions, you may contact Cassie Litzenberg, the ministry leader, or one of the pastors.
Both the PA Criminal History Check AND the Child Abuse Registry are now accessible on-line and free for volunteers. You can also use clearances from your employer or another volunteer organization.
FBI Fingerprint background check is $22.60 and is reimbursable from the church if you have a receipt. You can use one from an employer or another volunteer organization.
There are three required clearances or steps by the state of Pennsylvania for volunteers.
1. Report of Criminal History from the Pennsylvania State Police. https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
2. Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Public Welfare. https://www.compass.state.pa.us/CWIS
3. One of two options:
(A) A fingerprint based Federal criminal history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or it authorized agent is required if the volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years. This is co-sponsored through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. https://uenroll.identogo.com/ (service code 1KG6ZJ)**
The closest fingerprint center is in Grove City at the MIU4. Click here for directions.
(B) If the volunteer has lived inside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for the last 10 continuous years, a notarized affirmation of residency is required. Click here for an Affirmation of Residency Form.
-Thanks so much for investing your life in our kids & for your cooperation with this process.
